| Gorgeous French polychrome bronze statue by Gaston
Veuvenot Leroux. end 19th century . Oriental man with
opium pipe on mahogany wooden pedestal. His mantle has been
cold painted. The pipe (a little too high in his hand in the
pictures!) comes out of his hand and can be unscrewn into two
pieces. On original wooden platform, covered with the old
(worn) velvet cloth. Not the original pedestal, but
beautifully chiselled in mahogany and well matched!
Wonderful high quality sculpture! Superb details!! Look
at his face, his beard, his hands and feet.... , the details
on his mantle and headpiece! Beautiful patina!!
Signed in full on the base on the back of the bronze.
